The Voidless
A one page ancestry for Draw Steel made for the Ancestries of the Timescape jam.
With this little project I wanted to dive a bit deeper into Draw Steel as a system. I learned a lot from wording to balance. The fiction of the voidless was an idea of me to 180 the usual fiction. Instead of showing the impact of a hero through its action, I wanted to show what the impact is in its absence. Which shape hole does it leave in people's heart.
I feel Draw Steel shines in its combat, but I wanted to balance the ancestry towards a more narrative focused ancestry. Therefore I went with traits that help you in negotiations, and the ones that work in battle often are more utility based than pure power. I hope this ancestry inspires you to make your own. Let those creative juices flow, I believe you have it in you.

While not overly familiar with Draw Steel as a system, I nonetheless thought this Ancestry was quite fun! The Voidless often taking the shape of a book, and its appearance changing based on the emotional state of the one they're bound to, is a nice narrative touch.
The short writing accompanying this Ancestry to illustrate The Voidless in action was effective as well, giving a much stronger sense of what, precisely, these helpful, balancing beings bring to those who most need them.
